Scope & Functions

Scope

The Committee provides leadership and guidance on the ethical, effective, and innovative use of technology and AI to enhance teaching and learning at Santa Monica College.

Functions

  1. Policy & Planning - Recommend policies, principles, and priorities for the ethical and equitable use of instructional technology and AI.
  2. Professional Development - Support AI and technology literacy through workshops, resources, and collaborative initiatives.
  3. Equity & Access - Promote equitable, responsible, and accessible use of AI and instructional technologies across diverse learning contexts. 
  4. Integration & Collaboration - Coordinate with other Senate Committees and local, regional, and state partners to align technology and AI initiatives.
  5. Innovation & Evaluation - Identify and share emerging tools, pilot promising practices, and highlight SMC's leadership in AI and instructional innovation.
