Workplace Violence Prevention Program

Workplace violence encompasses any act or threat of physical violence, harassment, intimidation, or other threatening behavior that occurs at the work site. This can include verbal threats, physical assaults, and other disruptive behavior that could cause harm to employees, clients, visitors, or property.

We are committed to maintaining a work environment free from violence and threats of violence. Our Workplace Violence Prevention Program is designed to:

1. Assess and Identify Risks: We assess our workplace for potential risks and hazards that could lead to violence.
2. Develop Prevention Strategies: We implement proactive measures to prevent workplace violence, including training programs, security protocols, and communication strategies.
3. Respond Appropriately: Should an incident occur, we have procedures in place to respond swiftly and effectively to ensure the safety of everyone involved.
4. Provide Support: We offer support and resources to employees who may be affected by workplace violence, including counseling services where applicable.

As an employee of Santa Monica Community College, you play a crucial role in our Workplace Violence Prevention Program. Your responsibilities include:

• Reporting Concerns: Report any incidents, threats, or concerns related to workplace violence to your supervisor or the designated point of contact immediately.
• Participating in Training: Participate in training sessions provided by the company to learn how to recognize, prevent, and respond to workplace violence.
• Following Procedures: Familiarize yourself with and adhere to all company policies and procedures related to workplace violence prevention.

If you witness or experience workplace violence or threats of violence, it is important to report it promptly. In the event of a workplace violence emergency contact campus police immediately. For non-emergency incidents we have an online incident reporting form.
