Institutional Effectiveness (IE) is the ongoing and integrated process of planning, assessment, and continuous improvement that ensures a college is fulfilling is mission, vision, and goals. At Santa Monica College, the IE process involves monitoring the College's performance on key metrics to assess how well we are achieving our goals in areas such as student learning, equity, and student support, and using those insights to guide campus-wide priorities and inform action plans advance student success and improve campus culture and climate.
The Academic Senate Joint Institutional Effectiveness Committee plays a central role in this process by reviewing and interpreting data on the College's performance, facilitating dialogue across relevant campus constituents, and making recommendations for areas of inquiry and action based on the data trends to DPAC.
