New Employee Onboarding

One-to-One Development Sessions

These Development Sessions are designed to facilitate two-way feedback and provide ongoing support and guidance through regularly scheduled one-to-one check-ins between the immediate Supervisor and the new employee.

Supervisors should schedule these meetings well in advance and share the purpose of the meetings with the new hire.  During each of the Development Sessions, the immediate Supervisor will have the ability to provide and obtain feedback about the employee's experience, where they are excelling and where they may need additional support.  It will help you, as the Supervisor, gauge how your team member is integrating into the department, whether they are enjoying their new role, how they are managing their time among many other important factors.  It will also give you the opportunity to provide helpful guidance and feedback to help the team member succeed.

This is a great opportunity to help your employee identify specific priorities for the next month, set some goals and devise a plan to achieve those goals.

Be sure to reach into the Managers' Toolkit and explore the large variety of suggested discussion points outlined therein.
