CVFO Union Steward Training Series (Spring 2024)
Union Stewards are a crucial part of each chapter, working closely with elected chapter leaders and CSEA staff to protect employee rights under the negotiated contract and laws that protect our members. Oftentimes, Union Stewards are the first line of representation for members.
The CSEA Union Steward Certification Program provides an ongoing, comprehensive program that includes classroom training and practical experience in order to develop the skills of Union Stewards. There are three (3) levels of training for members to become a Jacketed Union Steward. The Union Steward Training courses must be taken in sequential order and registration is required. To become a Certified Union Steward, all three levels of training, homework, and associated activities must be completed within two (2) years. Participants must be active members in good standing in their chapter in order to participate in the program.
CVFO Union Steward Training Level 1 will be offered on Saturday, January 6, 2024, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. in-person in the Glendale, Ventura and Santa Maria areas.
Locations and registration information will be posted shortly.
For your future reference:
-
Level 2 will be offered in-person on Saturday, February 3, 2024.
-
Level 3 will be offered in-person on Saturday, March 2, 2024.
Registration for Levels 2 and 3 will open a few weeks ahead of each session and is only open to those that have completed the previous level and its associated homework activity. Each level will also be offered in three locations - Glendale, Ventura and Santa Maria.
Should you have any questions, feel free to contact the Costa y Valles Field Office at costa@csea.com or (800) 834-9959.
Costa y Valles Field Office will present a Know Your Rights Webinar on Wednesday, February 7, 2024, at 5:30 p.m.
Come learn more about your rights as a classified employee of your district! Many of your rights are secured by the Education Code or court rulings, but most are contained in the existing Collective Bargaining Agreement (your contract!) between CSEA and your school district. This training will give you the knowledge you need to protect yourself and your rights on the job.
This training will be presented virtually via Zoom. Registration details will be posted several weeks prior to the training.
