Racial Equity Solutions for California Community Colleges
System leaders and experts providing forwardthinking solutions, insights, and policy change
College Futures Foundation awarded USC a generous grant to advance racial equity across California’s community colleges. One key aspect of this investment entails assembling deeply experienced equity experts to author Research in Translation Reports and also a series of 3-4 page Solutions Briefs intended to be concise responses to racial equity questions submitted by community college employees. Downloadable PDFs of the briefs and reports will be uploaded to this site to allow open access to these resources.
Racial Equity Tools Online Resources
In July of 2022, RacialEquityTools.org (RET) added 118 new resources to their already robust online database of tools. These tools fall into four categories that RET uses to help users identify resources for whatever we may encounter in our daily equity journeys:
- Fundamentals
- Plan
- Act
- Evaluate
We are sharing these new additions below, and invite you to view the Racial Equity Tools main site for their full library of over 3,600 Equity Resources for your review and use.

The inquiry tools presented in this guide are the product of the staff who worked at the Center for Urban Education (CUE) from 1999 to 2018. The tools evolved over time, in response to what CUE staff learned from using the tools at campuses across the country, as well as from research on race, racism, and racial equity. Presented here is a collection of CUE’s most impactful tools, organized and edited by Cheryl D. Ching, PhD., who served as a research assistant at CUE from 2012 to 2017 and as a post-doctoral scholar from 2017 to 2018.
