Equity, Pathways, & Inclusion

What is EPI?
The Equity, Pathways, and Inclusion (EPI) division is committed to advancing SMC’s
racial equity imperative and student success goals by developing and aligning the
Student Equity Plan strategies and collaborating with key stakeholders to develop
and assess equity-focused programming and training.
EPI aims to foster culturally responsive, equity-centered experiences for all members of our community, while identifying and removing barriers to success for historically marginalized groups. By leveraging evidence-based practices, EPI strives to create an environment where equity and inclusion are embedded in every aspect of our institution. As part of this commitment, EPI strategically allocates funding to support equity-driven initiatives across campus, investing in programs, services, and partnerships that promote meaningful, sustained institutional change.

SMC Journey Map: A Decade of Equity and Redesign Efforts
The SMC Journey Map was created as an act of accountability and a reflection of our shared progress toward meeting our student equity and redesign goals. It offers an overview of key developments and shifts in our equity and institutional redesign work over the past decade—since we first received state funding and the mandate to establish concrete equity and guided pathways goals.
