Professional Development Programs for Classified Staff (CSEA-Represented Employees)

Classified Staff Waiver Program for SMC Course Material and Course Work

The Admissions & Records Office waives tuition for classified employees. Employees may also receive reimbursement for required instructional materials.

Classified Staff Professional Growth/Education Tuition Reimbursement

Permanent employees may apply for and receive reimbursement of tuition, registration, and/or cost of books or materials for classes, conferences, or workshops taken during the employee's non-work hours.

Classified Staff Educational Pay Differential Program

Permanent employees may be eligible for an educational pay differential for successful completion of approved educational training.

CLASSIFIED STAFF TRAINER DIFFERENTIAL OPPORTUNITY

To support the work of the Committee, the District may assign classified employees to provide training across departments for a specified term. The employees so assigned shall receive a 5% increase during the term of the assignment. Interested employees must submit the Become a Training Presenter form and meet specific criteria. See if your training opportunity meets the qualifications!

8 HOURS OF RELEASE TIME FOR PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT

Employees shall be provided with eight (8) hours of release time, per fiscal year, not including Professional Development Day, to attend a professional development program that was planned by the Committee or offered by the District so that all employees have the opportunity to further advance their career and technical skills, and should work with their immediate supervisor to schedule time to participate in any activities.
