Tips for Being a Competitive Candidate

The selection process can consist of various test parts, such as written tests, performance tests, training and experience evaluations, and qualifications appraisal interviews. The tentative selection process will typically be mentioned in the recruitment bulletin, which will allow you to prepare early.  You can find additional information about these test parts in our FAQ page, under “Job Applicants”.

Below, you can find resources to guide your test preparation:

Tips for Training and Experience Evaluations (Supplemental Application Screenings) – sometimes called a supplemental application screening, the training and experience evaluation involves a structured review of your application materials. The goal is to identify candidates whose job-related experiences and/or education best align with the work requirements of the role.

Tips for Structured Interviews (Qualifications Appraisal Interviews) – the Qualifications Appraisal Interview is a structured process where all candidates receive a common set of interview questions. Though questions will differ depending on the job, questions will often focus on gathering information about your previous experiences and how they have prepared you to do the job.
