SMC Black-Serving Institutions (BSI) Designation Application

California's Senate Bill 1348 (SB 1348), enacted in 2024, establishes the "Designation of California Black-Serving Institutions" to recognize colleges and universities that excel in supporting Black and African American students and providing academic resources to Black and African American students enrolled in degree or certificate programs offered by colleges and universities. An initial designation awarded will be valid for five academic years.
