Special Assistant to the President
Katharine Muller was appointed Special Assistant to the Superintendent/President in 2015 after 18 years at Santa Monica College serving as the founding Dean of the Academy of Entertainment and Technology and the Dean of External Programs and Institutional Planning.
Muller has over 45 years of experience in community colleges serving as a faculty member and as an administrator in student services, academic affairs, and district offices. She has provided leadership in institutional, strategic, and facilities planning; oversight for curriculum development at both the local and state level; spearheaded the development of new programs; developed and maintained local, regional, and international partnerships with business and industry, public and private institutions, and local K-12 and municipal entities; managed grant programs and fundraising efforts; and authored papers and contributed chapters in books on educational programs. Prior to her tenure at Santa Monica College, Muller worked at what is now Miami-Dade College in Florida.
Muller earned a bachelor's degree in Hispanic American Studies at the University of Miami, a master's in Counseling at Florida Atlantic University and the Management Development Program certificate at Harvard.
